Well that is a great suggestion, but if I am correct as to what you are thinking, it's sort of cheating and not to mention lying. We want to be honest and show only those who are online. If I am wrong, please do correct me.

I don't ask you to replace users online now with users online today.
Both will be on the index. Also this will help some to check if their friends logged on today or not.
